On
May 14, 2013, a luxury Maserati sports car was smashed
publicly in front of the exhibition hall entrance of the
Qingdao International Auto
Industry Exhibition under the car owner's request .
The car owner issued a statement saying he had two very poor
experiences with the Maserati customer service in China. The
first experience happened on Nov. 1, 2011 when replacing a
part in front of the car. The Maserati service in Qingdao
took a used part from another accident damaged car and
installed it in his car while charging him the for price of
a brand new part.
The second experience occurred as a result of a problem with
the car's left rear door without any reason. The
owner sent the car to Maserati service for checking and
repairing several times, but the problem was not solved. Two
months ago, the local repair dealer drove the car to a
professional car repair company in Qingdao under the Furi
Group. The repair company made things worse by not only being unable to solve the rear left door
problem, but also damaging the front door in the process.
This car owner Mr. Wang told media that he is from
Yantai (240 km northeast of Qingdao), this Maserati sports
sedan was bought in September 15, 2011 from a dealer in
Qingdao,
Shandong province at 2.6
million yuan
RMB (around US$420,000)
and the current mileage of this car is only 20,000 km. When
asked about the reason behind smashing the luxury car
publicly, the owner said that he wanted to draw public
attention on the bad and low quality luxury car maintenance
and repairing services in China, disclosing the cheating in
luxury car service, and at the same time, he hoping that
luxury car manufacturers in Europe and America should be
clearly aware that Chinese consumers should have the right
to get the services that match the standards of the brands
and are equal to other parts of the world.
