The wine vessel was made
2,000 years ago at the time of later Warring States (476-221 BC).
Such kind of wine vessels was exclusively used in emperors or
nobles families at that time. The vessel was made from bronze, and
inscription can be found near the bottom of it. Its body is fully
decorated with fine veins.
The wine vessel was
excavated in Qu Village, Quwo Town, Houma, Shanxi Province in
1990, the site used to be the graveyard in Spring & Autumn
Annals (770-476 BC) and Warring States (476-221 BC).
Bronze wares were very
popular in emperors and nobles families during the periods of Zhou
(Chow) (1122-770 BC), Spring & Autumn Annals (770-467 BC),
Warring States (467-221 BC), Qin (Chin) Dynasty (221-206 BC) and
Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). Ordinary people and families were not
allowed to make and own bronze ware at that time.
