Century Performing Arts Company
The Century Performing Arts Company has
been authorized by the Ministry of Culture of the People's
Republic of China to organize commercial cultural exchange
performances. Under the Chinese Youth Union and the Sino-Japanese
Youth Exchange Center, the company has one of the best theatres
in the country in terms of stage, acoustics, and seating. Our
staff of 32 have earned a good reputation for the company through
the many successful activieties we have arranged involving
domestic and foreign performing groups.
The Century Performing Arts Company has the ability to organize and carry out performances and can provide stage, sound and lighting facilities to meet the needs of the performers. We hope to work together with foreign producers to carry out cultural exchanges which will further international friendship and understanding.
Scope of Business of the Century Performing Arts Company
The Century Performing Arts
Company is equipped to: organize all kinds of domestic and
foreign commercial curltural performances and activities; take
Chinese performing groups overseas to participate in cultural
exchange activities; hold exhibitions of arts and crafts;
undertake stage design; rent out stage equipment; offer culture
and art consultation; offer technical support and assistance.
Previously Held Large-Scale Activities
The company has arranged for many different foreign groups to visit and perform in China. The company was also responsible for organizing the Sino-Japanese Youth Kareoke Competition, which was broadcast live via satellite to Southeast Asia. In 1995, they co-organized a large-scale evening performance party "Eastern Dragon" sponsored by the State Physical Culture and Sports Commission. The Beijing Hope Project Concert organized by the Century Performing Arts Company raised 270,000 yuan for the China Youth Foundation, which sends rural drop-outs back to school.
Century Theatre has a striking, modern-looking exterior, and inside is equipped with state-of-the-art stage, lighting, and sound equipment. Many foreign artists have performed here, such as the French National Symphony Orchestra, the Viennese Chamber Symphony Orchestra, the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the Puccini's opera Turandot, the New Orleans Jazz Band, and the English music group Black Voices. The theatre is also often used for TV shows filmed by Beijing TV and CCTV.
