Located on the Liangma river, this
center is the result of cooperation between Japan and
China. In 1984, the premeir of Japan, Nakasone Yasuhiro
signed an agreement with Chinese leader Hu Yaobang to use
money provided by both governments to build this
international exchange center. The total land area is
55,000 square meters, while the buildings have a total
floor space of 70,000 square meters. Designed by Chinese
and Japanese architects, the center combines modern and
traditional features. This is among the most striking and
impressive building complexes in Beijing. The main
structures of the center include the building housing the
Century Theatre and the International Conference
Room,
the Educational and Research Building,
the Audio-visual center, the Olive Sports World, and the
21st Century Hotel. Altogether, this complex has a
great variety of facilities, allowing us to offer support
facilities for almost any sort of cultural exchange
activities. We have hosted Japanese leaders, as well as
over 160 government officials from other countries. The
Sino-Japanese youth Exchange Center can organize and
carry out all sorts of cultural exchange activities
including art performances, educational and research
programs, sports exchange programs and travel tours. It
has already become a bridge between Chinese youth and
young people from other countries.
