The two pictures were taken recently  in Lixia District of Jinan, the capital city of Shandong province. The sidewalks are about 20 cm (around 8 inches) wide, and  make it very hard for people to go through safely and conveniently. The authorities explain that they have no choice because it is hard to arrange 2 way traffic by motor vehicles, so they have to make sidewalks narrower.
