Li Yuanchao
(1950 - ) Li Yuanchao, ethnic
Han, native of Lianshui,
Jiangsu Province, born in November 1950. Joined
the CPC in March 1978 and began working in November 1968. With a
postgraduate education at the Central Party School, he holds the title of LLD.
Important Positions: Member of the Political
Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC
Central Committee, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and
chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's
Congress. Li also took the positions of Alternate member of the
Sixteenth CPC Central Committee, member of the Seventeenth CPC Central
Committee and member of its Political Bureau and Secretariat. Member of
the Standing Committee of the Seventh CPPCC National Committee, and member
of the Eighth and Ninth CPPCC National Committees.

Shanghai Farm in Dafeng County, Jiangsu Province.
- 1972-1974: Student
of the Department of Mathematics of Shanghai Normal University.
- 1974-1975: Teacher
of Nanchang Middle School in Shanghai.
- 1975-1978: Teacher
of Luwan District Sparetime Vocational School in Shanghai.
- 1978-1982: Student
majoring in mathematics at the Department of Mathematics of Fudan
University, deputy secretary and secretary of the CYLC general
branch of the department.
- 1982-1983: Teacher
of the Department of Management of Fudan University, and deputy
secretary of its CYLC committee.
- 1983-1983: Deputy
secretary and secretary of the CYLC Shanghai Municipal Committee.
- 1983-1990: Member of
the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CYLC (1988-1990: student
of the School of Economic Management of Peking University, where he
obtained his master's degree).
- 1990-1993: Director
general of the First Bureau of the International External Communication
Group of the CPC Central Committee.
- 1993-1996: Deputy
head of the International Communication Group of the CPC Central
Committee, deputy director of the International Communication Office of
the CPC Central Committee, deputy director of the Information Office of
the State Council (1991-1995: student majoring in scientific socialism
at the Graduate School of the Central Party School, where he obtained
his doctoral degree).
- 1996-2000: Vice
minister of the Ministry of Culture and deputy secretary of its Leading
Party Members' Group.
- 2000-2001: Deputy
secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
- 2001-2002: Deputy
secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of the
CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee.
- 2002-2003: Secretary
of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Nanjing
Municipal Committee.
- 2003-2007: Secretary
of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, chairman of the Standing
Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress.
- 2007 Member of the
Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat
of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial
Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu
Provincial People's Congress.
- 2007 Li was
appointed as head of Organization Department of
Communist Party of China.
