Li Keqiang, a native of
Dingyuan County, Anhui Province, was born in July 1955. He began to work
in 1974 before he joined the CPC in 1976. He holds a bachelor's degree in
law and a doctoral degree in economics obtained from his on-the-job
postgraduate study at the School of Economics of Peking University (PKU)
from 1988 to 1995.
- March 1974-Nov.
1976: School graduate-turned-farmer at the Dongling Production Brigade,
Damiao Commune, Fengyang County, Anhui Province.
- Nov. 1976-March
1978: Secretary of the CPC Branch of Damiao Production Brigade, Damiao
Commune.
- March 1978-Feb.
1982: Student at PKU's Law School, head of the university's student
union.
- Feb. 1982- Dec.
1983: Secretary of the Committee of the Communist Youth League of China
(CYLC) of PKU, standing member of the CYLC Central Committee, director
of CYLC's School Department and secretary-general of the All-China
Students' Federation.
- Dec. 1983-Nov. 1985:
Alternate secretary at the Secretariat of the CYLC Central Committee.
- Nov. 1985- May 1993:
Secretary at the Secretariat of the CYLC Central Committee. (Elected
vice president of the All-China Youth Federation in Aug. 1990, held the
concurrent post of the president of the China Youth University for
Political Sciences from March 1993)
- May 1993-June 1998:
Chief secretary at the Secretariat of the 13th CYLC Central Committee.
- June 1998-July 1998:
Vice secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee.
- July 1998-Feb. 1999:
Vice governor and acting governor of Henan Province.
- Feb. 1999- Jan.
2003: Governor of Henan Province (Took the post of the secretary of the
CPC Henan Provincial Committee in Dec. 2002).
- Jan. 2003-:
Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and chairman of the
Standing Committee of the Henan People's Congress
- He was a member of
the 15th CPC Central Committee and now is a member of the 16th CPC
Central Committee.
